The Cause
Sistema NB Saint John is a free, daily after-school orchestral music program operated by the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra. Through group music instruction, Sistema helps children build confidence, life skills, and lasting social connections.
Since this show is helping kids, the lineup is presented in order of "new dadness."
Chris Hovey
One of New Brunswick's best comedians is back. Chris and his wife welcomed their first child this year, and if the way he turned life's biggest moments into comedy before becoming a dad is any indication, audiences are in for a hilarious new chapter.
Adam Blanchard
If hustle had a face, it would be Adam Blanchard. Adam and his wife recently welcomed their second child. He produces shows, performs constantly, and somehow still finds time to write some of the sharpest material around. He clearly hates money.
Arif Hussain
Arif's daughter has been part of Sistema for some time, and he's the reason this incredible cause is being featured. One of the smartest comics on the scene, Arif has an unmatched ability to squeeze laughs out of every word. Part carefully crafted material and part whatever comes to him in the moment, he always leaves audiences wanting more.
Host: Katelin Dean
Katelin Dean isn't a parent, but she is the perfect host for this show. A talented musician and comedian, Katelin sings the praises of Sistema every chance she gets. A regular on James Mullinger shows and festival stages across the province, she also performs with orchestras throughout New Brunswick. Her talent in both music and comedy makes her the ideal host for this special night.
Producer: Cive Lucas
Cive is the "OK dad" of a 15-year-old daughter who inspires much of his comedy and remains the biggest inspiration behind Bad Words for a Good Cause.
Comedy helping young people discover how beautiful music can be. That's a pretty great night out.
Tickets are $20. Buy your tickets by January 15 and pay just $15. No matter when you buy, $5 from every ticket sold is donated directly to Sistema NB Saint John. A sold-out show will raise $250 to help local kids learn music and life skills.
This show also doubles as producer Cive Lucas' 50th birthday celebration. His birthday is January 20, so come celebrate great comedy, an incredible cause, and the old guy who keeps putting these shows together.
