Walter Peter Tenhaaf

Walter Tenhaaf is a comedian, father, husband, stepfather, and former animation-industry lifer who has somehow assembled a family that requires a flowchart to explain. Walter is married to a woman whose daughter is only 13 years younger than he is. That daughter is married to a man who is eight years older than her—and somehow also eight years younger than Walter’s wife. If that made perfect sense, congratulations: you are the first person to understand Walter’s family. After 17 years in the animation industry, Walter eventually traded drawing imaginary worlds for standing onstage and talking about the very real one he somehow ended up living in. His comedy pulls from family, relationships, aging, fatherhood, and the increasingly complicated business of being an adult when nobody actually gave you the manual. His life has the general structure of a circus: everyone is related, nobody knows exactly how, and there’s probably a clown somewhere who is legally considered family. Walter brings a slightly confused, completely unhinged perspective to everyday life, finding the absurdity in the things most people quietly agree not to discuss at dinner. He is proof that you don't need your life figured out to have a good story. You just need enough relatives to make the seating chart interesting.
